Lili Reinhart’s Health Mystery: Ongoing Symptoms & Emotional Toll

Actress and mental health advocate Lili Reinhart shared in January 2025 that she’s facing interstitial cystitis along with anxiety and other chronic health struggles. She called 2024 “the hardest year of my life” and urged others to listen to their bodies and speak up about health issues.

Reinhart, 28, first noticed symptoms while filming in Germany last year. She experienced intense bladder pain and frequent urges, which she initially treated as a urinary tract infection. Antibiotics did not help. Back in Los Angeles, further tests led to her diagnosis of interstitial cystitis—an inflammatory bladder condition diagnosed in October 2024.

She is currently managing the condition with weekly bladder instillations. She also continues to seek answers for a possible autoimmune or inflammatory disease, which has caused weight gain, gut problems, and hair loss in 2022.

Reinhart opened up about her mental health too. She has lived with anxiety and panic attacks since adolescence and has been open about her diagnosis of depression and anxiety. The pandemic worsened these issues, causing stress over everyday activities.

On Instagram, she posted hospital photos from early morning in Germany and called out the need for patient advocacy. She wrote: “Don’t let a doctor gaslight you or diminish your pain.” Her honesty resonated with fans and fellow celebrities.

Reinhart also disclosed she overcame body dysmorphia and an eating disorder during Riverdale season six. She described being “disassociated” on set, fixating on how her body looked, and needing time to recover mentally.

Despite these challenges, Reinhart maintains a positive outlook. She stays committed to therapy, self-care, routines, and activism. She encourages others to advocate for themselves and to seek help when something feels wrong.

Health experts say interstitial cystitis can cause severe bladder pain and urgency. Treatment often includes bladder instillations, diet adjustments, stress management, and lifestyle changes. Mental illness, anxiety, and eating disorders often co-occur with chronic conditions. Patient advocacy plays a key role in getting proper diagnoses and care.

Reinhart also works as a skincare entrepreneur. Her Personal Day line focuses on gentle self-care and supports her mission to reduce stigma around mental health and chronic illness.

Fans and peers continue to support Reinhart’s openness. Many shared personal stories and praised her vulnerability. Online discussions, especially on Reddit, highlighted how her honesty helped others feel “seen” and less alone.

Reinhart’s message is clear: health is complex, and every pain deserves attention. Her experience shows how important self-advocacy, care, and mental health awareness are in facing hidden illnesses.
